We loved the cottage, from the moment we opened the door it felt homely and comfortable and our children especially our 4 Yr old thought it was amazing.
We were so excited that we were running around saying 'look at this...'
The bedrooms were cosy and the facilities were brilliant.
We chose the cottage because it had an enclosed garden and was spacious.
The only thing I needed to bring was a mattress for the travel cot because the hosts had thought of everything a family would need and we have never found this before in a holiday home.
We would recommend this cottage to our friends,it's a beautiful place in a great location, perfect for families and the hosts were fabulous.
Cosy yet spacious cottage, situated in an ideal location to get out exploring the wales coastline. Excellent, comfortable facilities with lots of ways to keep the kids entertained on rainy days. Many thanks 😊
A wonderful cottage with everything I needed for a very enjoyable stay. Loved the massive TV, Jacuzzi bath and games room. The Pirate break out room was a really cool idea and lots of fun to try and solve. I can't believe just how stunning the Ceredigion coastline is and the cottage was perfectly situated for us to fully explore this breathtaking corner of the UK.
Thank you Helen, we enjoyed the cottage and loved staying there.
We had a lovely stay at this great place a group of 5 adults and 21 month old twins, plenty of space for everyone, safe secure garden and snooker table kept the men entertained in the evenings would definitely stay again. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday.
We posted our review of Tandisgwylfa yesterday and then thought we would share a few details of some of the beaches and eating places we visited to hopefully help those who don’t know the area.
Llangrannog: small sandy bay surrounded by cliffs; good choice of food and beers from seafront pubs and eateries. Free car park with a pleasant but steepish walk down or small payable seafront car park.
Penbryn: lovely golden beach short walk from National Trust car park next to the Plwmp Tart cafe.
Mwnt: beautiful mount with spectacular views; good for dolphin spotting; walks around the lower slopes or up to the top; lovely sheltered beach; quaint old church; nice little kiosk for snacks and drinks; area including large car park managed by National Trust.
Newport Beach: vast beach great for walking or playing on; plenty of parking close by and even on it where some were having bbq; nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating.
Pentre Arms, Llangrannog: nice pub on the front with very good food, beer and service.
The Ship, Llangrannog: another nice pub; didn’t eat here but great beer, service and sitting out area.
La Calabria, Ffostrasol: excellent family run Italian restaurant; booking essential at weekends.
The Harbour Master, Aberaeron: delightful harbour front restaurant serving delicious food; number 12 in Observer ‘22 best places to eat seafood around the UK coast’; book well ahead.
The Lime Crab, New Quay: best fish and chips in the area; eating them sat on the nearby jetty watching the boats come and go is a treat.
The Moody Cow, Aberaeron: farm shop selling quality local produce and Welsh bistro with plenty of seating indoor, outdoor or in marquee; very tasty all day breakfast.
We have just had a very relaxing week at Tandisgwylfa where the new owners have paid attention to detail and thought of everyone’s needs.
Although the cottage is old and cosy, it is spacious and spotlessly clean, and the newly updated bathrooms and fixtures and fittings are very modern and tasteful.
Our bed was so comfy, the spacious bathroom had plenty of room for our toiletries and the kitchen had a range of high quality dishes and glasses.
The Pirates Den log cabin was particularly successful for pool and table competitions and the large screen TV came in handy for Wimbledon and the Euros.
We enjoyed several of the nearby beaches and eating out places and have left details of these in the cottage's website Guestbook. We even managed to eat out in the garden which is quite a sun trap.
We have already booked another holiday at Tandisgwylfa later in the year for a family holiday - can’t wait! Thank you!
We have just returned from a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage. It truly is stunning, down to the very last detail. The furnishings and decor throughout, are first class. The cottage is fully equipped, with everything you could possibly wish for in a holiday home. The new owners Helen & Jonny Taylor, have worked incredibly hard to bring this cottage up to a very high standard. It has a lovely enclosed garden, safe for young children & a fantastic large Log Cabin/ Pirates Den , equipped with table tennis & pool table. A treasure hunt & chest & hoopla. Even if the weather isn’t good, plenty to occupy the family. Parking is great on the driveway, with room for multiple cars.
The cottage, is conveniently placed near to the coast, with short drives to beautiful beaches & walks along the coastal path.
We highly recommend this beautiful cottage for a holiday, in a very lovely part of West Wales, with its stunning scenery.
We had a fantastic stay at West Wales Cottage. We have two young children and it catered perfectly for all our needs. From providing lots of family games, ideas for days outs, spacious rooms for the children to play, modern beautiful bathrooms, a lovely cosy very well equipped kitchen and an enclosed safe garden. The children absolutely loved the jacuzzi bath and playing ping pong in the Pirate’s Den. Once the children were in bed, the games room was perfect for child free time, playing pool with a glass / several glasses of wine! The finishing touches are just perfect - from the tractor decor in the children’s room and wooden shutters for a great nights sleep! The cottage is in a fantastic spot for visiting the beautiful different beaches and enjoying a delicious meal at the Harbour Master Restaurant. We had so much fun at Oakwood them park which was only 50 minutes away. My little girl described it as the best day ever! We will defiantly be returning to this little gem of a cottage and would highly recommend it to all families. A big thank you to Helen and Jonny for having us. They have done an amazing job, turning the cottage into a perfect holiday home.
A most delightful and beautifully presented property. And very professional management! Thank you Jonny and Helen. A perfect getaway - we’ll be back
Good day, Helen.
Thank you for the very comprehensive details provided for a great stay at Tandisgwylfa.
The cottage is delightful and beautifully presented with everything that one could wish for. We all truly enjoyed ourselves, it was a very relaxing few days. The weather was kind to us and so the children had a great time at the beach.
May I offer you all best wishes going forward, and I have no doubt that we will again be in touch with a view to our enjoying “seconds”.
We spent a long weekend in Tandisgwylfa and the whole experience in this cottage from start to finish was perfect. Every little thing was thought of, and it felt like home from home as soon as we arrived. The decor is beautiful with unique little touches, such as the wooden black out shutters in the bedrooms upstairs. The addition of a "Pirate Den"/games room was the icing on the cake, and provided hours of entertainment for adults and children alike. There were also lots of children's DVDs in the lounge which kept my three little ones occupied in the evenings.
The owners, Helen and Jonny, are very approachable and always available to contact for any queries, however this was not really needed because the welcome pack was very comprehensive containing information and advice that covered all questions. We took a trip to Mwnt as it was one of the recommended places to visit, and we had the most beautiful day at a lovely beach with stunning views.
Convenience stores are easily accessible by car a few minutes down the road, and the post office across the road also sells a few provisions such as milk and bread.
I highly recommend West Wales Cottage and I would definitely visit again in future. 😊
