Newport enjoys a great position on the slope of the Afon Nyfer river estuary. There is a fine beach nearby and it enjoys easy access to many interesting and varied places to visit.

Carn Ingli overlooks the town. It is an extinct volcano and has been inhabited since the Roman times.

Of particular interest is the West Wales Eco Centre on Lower St. Mary Street.
